STUBBORN?!

A lot of people call me stubborn. They see it as a flaw, as did I. I don’t anymore. See lately, I have been taking more time for myself. Thus, I’ve had a lot of time to chill, get creative, learn, and, of course, think, and reflect.
When you reflect, you become in tune with your inner self, your mind. You know what you think about issues, you develop your own opinions , and make out or change your views on the world around you, in general. This is good for your mental health as you learn to be truthful to yourself, to not be overly judgemental to self, and to learn about, and love, yourself (and that includes all aspects of your personality). Then, if you realise something you dislike about yourself you can be frank enough to admit it and work towards changing it.

Anyways, I have recently realised that, I AM stubborn, and though that could be a bad thing, it could also be a good thing. As a matter of fact, it has served me positively, on too many occasions to count, since I was little.

I also realised, that, people have thrown that word at me , on multiple occassions when I refused to bend my will to theirs ;which is in essence, the definition of ‘opinionated’ or ‘stubborn’ (or is it?). Almost always,it would be for something which would be to their benefit, and most likely not to mine. i.e”…hey, could you exchange your shirt with mine, mine’s torn and I have a meeting today?”, “no, I’ve got a meeting too”, I say, and the next thing is “you’re stubborn…and selfish” OR , that guy, who keeps finding new and inventive ways to say”…come home with me” or whatever, and when met with constant refusal, says…”you’re stubborn”.
Of course, each time someone says that, it hurts, just a little. sometimes, more. No one likes to be called a name with a negative connotation .
So, basically, whenever I go with my gut, and choose what benefits me over what someone else chooses in a situation that’s designed to benefit them rather than moi, then I’m stubborn as …whatever.
Well then, in that case, I have quite a few things to say to that sentiment, which are- effing A. eff off i.e.comot for here. you are a selfish person, for making an unreasonable request/demand and expecting me to simply go along with it : B. that sort of emotional/psychological blackmail/manipulation is not going to work on me: and C. I’ll always look out for number one, and if that makes me, stubborn, or selfish, well then, I love being both.
God knows how many times being firm on my decision, simply following a gut feeling, has saved me from being taken advantage of, in very big ways.

The reverse is also true…

God knows how many people have been hurt badly, in all sorts of ways, simply because they were weak willed, or perhaps were trying to not be called ‘stubborn’.
Therefore: Hi everybody, I am Black and I am stubborn. lol . I love being stubborn, as I love every part of me.
Now, think about this, and answer truthfully.

Would you consider yourself stubborn,in a good way?

Has it ever been good for you, and how?

would absolutely love to read from you.
